2009 is shaping up to be a time for change in America. However, for Randy Weeks — whose much anticipated disc Going My Way arrived February 24 — the big change started in 2007. That’s when longtime hero of the Southern California music scene uprooted himself to Austin, Texas.  After making the move, Weeks gathered together luminaries of both the Los Angeles and Austin music scenes to craft his latest album. Produced by Will Sexton, who also played bass, it features Tony Gilkyson on guitar, Rick Richards on drums, Mike Thompson on piano with guest appearances by Eliza Gilkyson, Cindy Cashdollar, Rick Poss, Brian Standefer, Mark Hallman and Ruby Jane Smith.

What has not changed is the high praise Weeks unfailingly earns for his efforts. Like his previous albums, Going My Way is already garnering acclaim from critics and fans alike.  Randy Lewis of the Los Angeles Times named Weeks “Artist To Watch In 2009,” saying he “puts together a batch of consistently evocative, witty lyrics,” while the Austin Chronicle’s Margaret Moser says he’s “still producing snappy compositions that crackle and pop with life.”

Going My Way is getting airplay on stations across the country, including Sirius satellite radio, so keep your car radios on!

Weeks celebrated the release with parties in Houston, Los Angeles, Austin and Minneapolis as well as with official showcases at Austin’s SXSW and the International Folk Alliance Conference in Memphis.  He’ll be touring extensively in 2009, so watch the calendar for dates near you.
